Practical mysticism salons are intimate, living-room gatherings where we explore mystical texts not just with our minds, but with our whole selves. Each circle begins with a short talk inspired by a mystical theme or figure, and then we open into embodied listening and sharing — practicing the mystic’s way of seeking direct contact with the divine through lived experience rather than concepts.

This way of gathering is ancient and, I believe, deeply “new-paradigm”: people sitting together, sensing for deeper guidance, remembering the wisdom that emerges in community, enhanced by the shape of the circle in which everyone is in equal relation to everyone else.

In a time of profound change, this simple practice is one of the ways we can learn to become conscious of the whole (collective intelligence) and move toward a future that supports us all.

I call these salons “practical mysticism for apocalyptic times” because the ancient Greek word from which we get apocalypse means revelation, uncovering or disclosure. From a mystical perspective, the social upheaval we’re experiencing all around us is the shadow side of our culture being made more visible so we become conscious of it. Conscious inclusion leads to change.

In this challenging moment we actually have a greater opportunity than ever to participate in the birthing of a new society.

If you're in the Philadelphia area and this speaks to you, you are warmly invited to join us in this practice of growing our consciousness and listening to the future that wants to emerge through us.
We gather in Germantown on 4th Saturday afternoons. To be added to the mailing list, email me at hannah.sadtler@gmail.com
